The purpose of this is to spread awareness among the international community of tourism and to encourage people the importance of different culture, social and economic advantages. WTD was first celebrated in the year 1980 by UNWTO (United Nations World Tourism Organization). This day ‘September 27’ is chosen because on this date the statutes (a written law passed by a legislative body) for UNWTO was passed on 27th Sept 1970.
On this day UNWTO passes the message to the world of tourism. ‘Tourism and Digital Transformation’ is the theme for this year. As the development and improvement in the technology, this world is changing at a much faster rate than ever before. This theme is selected because the digitally advanced tourism sector can open many doors in the tourism industry in the field of entrepreneurship, local community advancement and efficient resource management.
Every year a particular country host the World Tourism Day. Hungary is the host country of this year World Tourism Day(WTD) 2018. The UNWTO and Hungarian Tourism Agency and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade has decided to hold the official celebration of WTD in Budapest.
The WTD is celebrated by making people aware of the beauty of our nature and why it is very important to conserve it. Many big leaders and social figures gather together and give a speech about the development in the tourism industries and what are the current changes they are making to improve the experience of the tourist and making tourism more affordable. People used to take part in different events and spent a quality amount of time. People dance, sing, laugh, play different types of fun games and enjoy the moment with their loved ones.
Many countries are encouraging tourism because it not only protect our natural beauty but also it provides employment to many people around the globe. The income from the tourism sector spends in the development and protection of the wild lives. Tourism has become one of the biggest industries in the World. Many countries around the world depend on the tourism sector for their economy. For example Macau, Maldives, British Virgin Islands, Seychelles, Bahamas and many more. The Maldives is an island nation located in the Indian Ocean. Approximately 41.5% of its economy comes from the tourism sector. Its beaches and tropical resorts are what draw tourists to the country.
On World Tourism Day people’s encouraged to travel more. There are so many things in this World to see. People travel all around the world doing many different things and getting invaluable experience that lasts for the lifetime. Like trekking, wild boar hunting, paragliding, indulge in river rafting, mountaineering, white water rafting, mountain and desert jeep safaris, camel and yak safaris, fishing, bird watching, and many more things.
People forget all there troubles and social responsibilities and enjoy the present moment.
The only purpose of WTD is to encourage them to cut them off from their busy lives and make them travel. Travelling can really change the way you see the world. So travel more. Travel as much as you can. On this World Tourism Day travel somewhere. Make a plan, decide and then just go and explore the world. The whole world is open for you.
Life is small but the World is big. Travel more.
