The King of Demon Hiranyakashipu after devoting many years in Sadhana obtained a boon from Lord Brahma that he could not be killed or even harmed either earth, hell, and heaven. After such boon, he started to cause trouble in both heaven and earth. He had become very arrogant of his security. His son Prahlada who was a great devotee of Lord Vishnu was challenged by his father Hiranyakashipiu. His son refused to obey his father command and in that anger, he decided to kill Prahlada. To save the demon’s son Prahlada and to kill the demon a Man-Lion avatar of Vishnu emerges and kills Hiranyakashipu. The festival of Holi is celebrated on this occasion which indicated the victory of good over evil.
"Om hrim ksaumugram viram mahavivnumjvalantam sarvatomukham।
Nrsimham bhisanam bhadrammrtyormrtyum namamyaham ॥"
Narasimha Avatar is the fourth avatar of Lord Vishnu. It is believed that he took the avatar to destroy the demon King Hiranyakashipu. Narasimha is visualized in a human body with the face of a lion and claws. In Bhagavat Purana, it is described that, like Varaha, Lord Vishnu killed Hiraṇayakṣa.
Sri Narasimha Swami, the fourth avatar, is special among the avatars of Lord Vishnu's ten avatars. Unlike all other avatars of Lord Vishnu, which were taken to save humanity, the sages and devas from the evil forces of the Asura dynasty, narasimha-avatar was taken to confirm the words spoken by His hot devotee, Bhakta Prahlada. Prahlada believed and proved to the world that the Lord Mighty is "Omnipresent (AntariAmi)." Most people have doubts about worshiping Lord Narasimha because of his fearsome form. But remember, the same lap that proved to be the necropolis for the wicked asura, is also the throne for his devotee, Prahlada. The grace of Shri Narasimha is boundless.
There was once a demon king named Hiranya-Kashipu who ruled the world. He was cruel, evil and invulnerable to men, animals or gods, inside or outside his home, day or night.
One day, to make a joke, Hiranya-Kashipu hit a pillar of his palace and asked if Vishnu was there. To his surprise, Vishnu roared out in the form of a man-lion, his fourth avatar and shattered the demon at dusk in the palace gallery.
Lord Narsimha himself is recognized by the variety of forms. The Vihagendra-samhita of the Pancaratra-Agama lists more than seventy forms of Shri Narasimha. Most of these forms are distinguished by their own distinctions.
According to legend, there was a king named Kashyap in ancient times. His wife's name was Diti. He got two sons from his wife, whose name was Hiranya and Hiranyakshhipu.
Hiranyaksha's brother, Hiranyakashipu, wants revenge by destroying Lord Vishnu and his followers. Brahma, the god of creation. Impressed by this act, he offers everything he wants.
Hiranyakashipu asks a difficult favor. That he would not die on earth or in space; neither in fire nor in water; neither day nor night; neither inside nor outside; not by a human, animal or god; neither by inanimate nor by being animated.
Brahma grants the favor. He unleashed terror. His era However, his Prahlada is his worshiper of Lord Vishnu. Repeated pressurization in it does not produce results for Hiranyakashipu. Prahlada declares the omnipresence of Lord Vishnu.
Once Hiranyakashipu points to a theme and asks if Vishnu is present in him. Prahlada nods affirmatively. Enraged, he takes out his sword and cuts the pillar; Narasimha appears outside the broken column.
Narasimha (being a man-lion god form) kills Hiranyakashipu. He comes to kill at night; at the doors of his palace; he does not use nails to kill (neither animate nor inanimate); He puts it in his lap before killing (neither earth nor in space). That is how power becomes of ineffective blessing.
Lord Narasimha is worshiped on the day of Narasimha Jayanti. A person should not be from Brasters in Brahma Muhurat and take a bath. Pray clothes and offer prayers to Lord Narasimha. An idol of the goddess Laxmi must be placed with Lord Narasimha. Both must be worshiped with devotion and dedication. Fruits, flowers, five sweets, kumkum, kesar, coconut, rice, gang kal, etc.
